An Interschools Showjumping and Dressage event was held on Sunday 22nd April in Claremorris Equestrian Centre. The event was open to both Primary and Secondary School students. Three students represented St. Joseph's P.S - Emi (4th Class), Cadhla (4th Class) and Rebecca (3rd Class).
Emi competed with her pony Danny in Individual Novice (70/80 cms) Showjumping. Cadhla competed with her pony Milford Lad in Individual Open (80/90 cms) Showjumping and Individual Dressage. Rebecca competed with her pony Bilco in Individual and Team Dressage.
Cadhla won the Individual Open Showjumping after an exciting jump off against the clock. Rebecca won the Individual Primary Schools Dressage and Cadhla got second place in the Individual Primary Schools Dressage. A fun day was had by all participants. Wonderful achievements for St. Joseph's and we look forward to more schools equestrian events in the future.
Active Week 2018
We will be updating this folder full of photos to share what's happening in our school. Lots to look forward to including dance, orienteering, yoga, football, walking, teddy bears picnic and much more!
Problem Solving / Green School
Ms, Hughes' 5th Class have been trying to solve the problem of how to reduce tinfoil usage in our school. They collected data, represented it on graphs, created posters to highlight the issue, created fact sheets, calculated costs and provided alternatives.
It's Active Week next week in St. Joseph's. A packed fun filled timetable has been organised. Parents and club representatives are all coming to our school to share their expertise. All children AND teachers are to wear their school tracksuit every day next week and also are reminded to stay active outside school hours!
The DES strongly encourage all schools to participate. Read more about it here: activeschoolflag.ie/index.php/active-school-week/
Pat Fahy came to the school yesterday and all classes from 2nd -6th attended a golf workshop. We all loved it and hope he comes back to the school soon!
Spring Clean Month
It's 'Spring Clean' month. Each class from 1st to 6th will have an area to maintain around the school. This will involve picking up litter, weeding, sweeping and tidying.
Each class will also have a plot in the garden to look after - sowing flowers, vegetables etc. We look forward to seeing everyone being busy with Green School activities again this term.
