Wishing all of our pupils, families and staff a very happy and safe Halloween. Have a wonderful mid-term break everyone. We had such a great start to the year with lots of fun activities.
See you all on the 7th of November. We enjoyed lots of fun events for Code Week. Classes enjoyed working with BeeBots, Scratch, Microbits and some did some unplugged activities with dance, direction and algorithms.
Well done all! Children are having great fun with the Transition Year pupils from Ballinrobe Community School who are organising some Halloween Games for us over the next few days!
Many thanks! Great fun was had! Well done to 6th class on preparing another interesting assembly. This week's topic was friendship. We also heard lots of class news and saw some project work. Ireland is hugely proud of its Diaspora and today Minister Brophy is launching the educational resource pack “Irish Stories in Latin America”, which explores the lives of historical Irish figures in the region. Mr. Kenny (one of our staff) researched some famous people and compiled some wonderful lessons. Watch Minister Brophy explaining the resource and Ms. Canney delivering one of the lessons on Mayo man Admiral William Brown to her fifth class last term.
Today the school travelled to Kilmaine to take on Cross/Glencorrib in the girls and Party in the boys South Mayo finals!
Both teams were victorious and were presented with their medals by Cumann na mBunscol representative Aodan O'Caoimh Both teams will now move on to play in the County semi finals! Well done to their coaches, Mairead Seoighe, Alan Plunkett, Lorraine Grimes and Thomas O'Connor Huge congratulations to Katie Grimes, Elenor Coyne and Laoise May who all won individual medals at the Mayo Cross Country in Ballina and will now go on to represent the school in the Connacht Cross Country in Moyne College, Longford on October 22nd!
We had great fun at the Mayo County Finals last Saturdday, October 1st in Belleek, Ballina. Nineteen of our pupils competed. They trained with Ms. Grimes over the past number of weeks.
